Based on my e-learning experience, and since the course was conducted using the blended mode of learning, face to face and online learning, I believed at that time the best training methods was classroom training. Since online learning was at its infant stage in 2004 at the University of the South Pacific, it was very important to have a lot of interaction between the trainer and participants. One thing that I noticed at that time was the experience and exposure that matured students had over those fresh school leavers. The matured students would be asking questions and received answers immediately whereas after class then we would see fresh school leavers seeking assistance from them. Classroom training was also an advantage to first year students in changing their attitudes and interpersonal skills.
During 2009, when I was doing one of my Post Graduate unit which was conducted online, I experienced a great improvement compared to my first e-learning experience. In view of the fast changes of technology and since most people can have access to computer/internet from anywhere at anytime, I think combination of technology based training with net-based training would be suitable. This combination of training methods would have a great impact on working students in terms of knowledge acquisition and problem solving. This is through sharing of ideas and commenting on discussion boards and getting feedback from their instructor.

Hi A-san,
I was going through the checklist (Fig7-8) and was just wandering where your experience reflects the methods as listed.
I believe you have mentioned some of these experiences before. However, I was thinking maybe you could elaborate on the content and the methods used based on the checklist.
Was there any specific collaborative learning or tasks that reflected such improvement?
