2.e-Learning experience report (Assignment 1)

How was the warm-up in Block 1?
Here is a guidance as to how to learn hereafter in of Blocks 2 and 3.

Option of learning sequence

Usual courses proceed straight from Session 1 through the final session in an order set by the lecturer. We are so used to this learning process, but this is not necessarily the best way. In this course, when the following three conditions are fulfilled in Block 1, Blocks 2 and 3 will be fully opened, all at the same time:

  • Session 1: Posting on the Discussion Board for "Feedback to the preface"
  • Session 2: Submission of "Assignment 1"
  • Session 2: Posting peer evaluation of "Assignment 1"
  • You can learn the rest in free order. Please proceed with your learning as you like.

Sessions of Block 2 can be organized as follows:

  • Session 3-6: Overview of e-Learning
  • Session 7-9: Design of e-Learning systems
  • Session 10-11: Design of e-Learning materials
  • Session 12-14: How to be involved in e-Learning
  • Please begin with any session you are interested in.

    Checking the final goal

In Block 3, you have to submit the last assignment (Assignment 3). You must write an analysis paper, based on your learning in Block 2. Therefore, you cannot undertake this assignment yet. However, if you check beforehand what assignment it is or what is required in it, you can get a clearer idea on what to aim at while learning in Block 2. So, it is not a bad idea to check Block 3 at an earlier stage, even before you start studying Block 2.

    Securing learning time

In Block 2, to further learn e-learning fundamentals, PDF texts will be offered in the same way as in Block 1. Please secure enough learning time by taking into account explosive increase in the number of pages of text. The text volume offered in Block 2 amounts to a total of 316 pages. In addition, related links and materials will be offered for your full enjoyment (if you can take your time). You will have a lot on your plate (naturally as a graduate course) such as: 1) reading texts while looking up words you don't know, 2) viewing information on links, 3) answering questions in each session's quiz, and 4) submitting comments and replying on other students' postings. To fully learn what this course is to offer, you must give sufficient time.

Below is a list of Block 2's outlines, session titles, and number of text pages. Consult them when planning your learning schedule.
