  Please carry out this Session's Task after reading and understanding the following contents.

   As technology advances, the skills required for teachers and students have been changed. When we apply instructional technology to educational settings, it’s important to consider what technology and media should be selected and what kinds of learning activities should be employed. There are several turning points related to instructional technology; (1) a personal computer became widespread, (2) the Internet became available, and (3) the social media was introduced. As the new technology become available, what we could do for education might be broaden. Instructional Design Theory ties to what is available for students’ learning. International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), a non-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the use of information technology to aid in learning, established standards for K-12 teachers and students. The standards were also modified according to advancements of technology. When you compare the 1998 version and the 2007 version of the standards for students, you could tell ISTE’s modifications of the standards affected by technology advancements and their diffusion to the public. You could also refer the standards for teachers and administrators in digital age on the same website. As an instructional technologist, or a digital-age instructional designer, we should be aware of features and problems of digital-age education. In this session, I would like you to think about the current issues of digital-age education from the perspectives of teachers, administrators, or students. In order to solve the current issues, we as researchers of instructional technology would conduct a research. The first step for a research is to formulate a research question to solve for better teaching and learning.
