3. e-Learning from the perspective of an educational technologist
--vii Review quiz (3) (outside link)

In this session, let's read "Prologue: e-Learning from the perspective of an educational technologist" of the e-learning fundamentals texts. We will briefly explain how to read, because this is the first time for reading texts.

Learning Objectives

At the beginning of texts, what to aim at by reading the chapters is mentioned as "Learning Objective." The prologue has the following three objectives:

[Learning Objectives in Introductory Chapter]

  • Be able to explain, through concrete examples, what e-Learning is, by introducing three emphasized viewpoints.
  • Be able to describe examples of misunderstandings and myths concerning e-Learning.
  • Be able to explain, based on social background, the reason why Instructional Design is said to be important in quality e-Learning.

Description of this chapter

After learning objectives, essential contents of chapters are itemized. If you can fully understand them, you may not have to read details so seriously. If you wonder what they mean, please read carefully to clear up your questions.

End-of-chapter tasks for reporting

At the end of each chapter, there are questions for reporting answers as prior tasks. These are equivalent to the tasks in this course, but details may be slightly different. Please follow instructions on the page of [Task] in every session, instead of reading the questions at the end of chapters in texts.

Thus, although applicable to any case of learning, a knack for efficient learning is first looking at contents to know what is required as tasks before starting to read texts.

Have you already checked [Task]?
Then, please enjoy the text.

By the way, the link below the text brings you to a video recording the lecture part at that time. Although the text will be much easier to understand, please try this if you like to watch.
