◆Rubric◆A rubric is a scoring tool that rates performance in several levels and lists the criteria for each ,level. Using a rubric has become popular as an educational evaluation method to show criteria for judging achievement levels of learning performance. Traditionally, objective tests have played a major role in evaluating achievement. These tests are useful for evaluating the knowledge and comprehension students achieved, but it is difficult to evaluate thoughts and judgments, skills and other learning performances. Teachers could aim at sharing information regarding "what is to be highly evaluated" with students by showing "evaluation criteria" in advance with a rubric when implementing portfolio evaluation. Below is a link to a rubric about interactivity in distance learning, proposed by Roblyer & Ekhaml (2000) in PDF format. In order to clarify the importance of interactivity in distance learning, this rubric focuses on four viewpoints: 1) establishment of social rapport (good relationships), 2) design of learning support, 3) interactive level of IT resource and 4) quality of interactivity which appears in learners' responses. Total scores obtained by checking from each viewpoint will enable us to confirm how much interactivity is achieved in the course concerned.
