He graduated from Kyoto University as a sociologist in 1982. Professor Ohmori's current research interest lies in sociological analysis of educational policy and higher education including international quality assurance, globalization and transnational provision, e-learning, and institutional strategy of pedagogy and management. He also teaches policy studies in general to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Professor Ohmori is one of the core staff who have initiated a new online programme of MSc in Instructional Systems, which is the first Japanese programme to train e-learning professionals at postgraduate level.
