About the Research Center for Instructional Systems

Summary

The Research Center for Instructional Systems (RCiS) is comprised of three divisions that strive to be world-leaders in research in their fields, and the E-Learning Promotion Center, a business division that promotes the development of e-learning. RCiS conducts practical research in numerous fields both in and outside of academia, and is dedicated to research into instructional systems for both higher education and human resource development in the workplace.

As Japan’s first research center for instructional systems, we strive to promote the image of Kumamoto University being the definitive authority on the study of educational systems and instructional design. To this end, we contribute to society by deepening its understanding of educational systems through research done in collaboration with research organizations located both domestically and internationally, situated in both the private sector and institutions of higher education, as well as our graduates working in each of these settings.
